Our Judo Journey
The last few years we have been working really hard to be financially responsible and "tell our money where to go, instead of wondering where is went" (as Dave Ramsey says). Thankfully, our hard work has paid off and we're able to afford to put Gabe in sports.
The first sport we chose to try was Judo... although we kind of felt like judo chose us in a way... the "gentle way" : )
At first seeing the other kids (and eventually my kid) flying through the air doing cartwheels, shoulder rolls and flips scared me, but I very quickly fell in love with the art form.
I loved it so much I was brave enough to even try it myself!!!
Gabe goes to class 2-3 times a week and I join him for the family class and/or go to women's class almost every week. It's a great bonding time for Gabe and I.. not to mention a beast of a workout!
Plus it feels good as a woman to know that I'm learning
to defend myself (should the need ever arise).
He placed 2nd at the Veteran's Day Tournament (2015) and competed in two separate divisions in the San Shi Novice Tournament, placing 1st and 2nd. He was very excited to bring home a trophy!!!
