Master Bedroom Renovation: Part 1
I love flexing my creativity muscle. Doing projects around the house with my husband is one of our favorite ways to spend time together. He's creative as well so we both enjoy the process of brainstorming together and seeing the final product of our imaginations come to life!
We bought our townhome 4 years ago, and so far, we've (almost) completed renovating the down stairs. (We still have to finish the kitchen... stay tuned for a future blog post about that). Last week, we decided to use some of our tax return money to buy a bigger bed. We gave our current queen size bed and frame to our son. It's a little big for a 9 year old, but we know he'll grow into it very soon.
We shopped around for a few days and got a great deal on a Cal King mattress from a local furniture store that was going out of business. We're in the process of making the bed frame now..so check back in for pictures (and part 2) soon. We wanted the widest bed possible to fit my husband and me, our son, and our 2 dogs on family movie nights.
We absolutely love snuggling together!!!
To accomplish the goal, we turned the Cal King mattress side ways. Adding the extra inches in width meant we had to move the bed to a different wall in our bedroom and it completely changed the dynamic of the room. Getting rid of our old captain's bed frame also caused us to lose 4 drawers of storage!
All of that to say... it was time for a new dresser!
Since this was a spontaneous project, we didn't have a lot of funds saved up... so we were going the cheap route! This isn't unusual for my design preference though. I really hate spending money on something I (think I) can do on my own. As always Pinterest was a great help for inspiration!
The colors we used were Behr MoonQuake (grey) and some Pure White 3050 we had left of from our base boards : )
