ARIZONA HERE WE COME!
So this is my pathetic attempt at surprising my husband for his birthday. And in our books it counts as a surprise Lol
I knew Rudy wanted to go to Monster Jam again! We are all very spoiled on our birthdays and make a huge deal out of it every year. We can't really afford to do something on a day that isn't our actual birthday because we still will celebrate AGAIN on the actual day! It's crazy! I know! That's why I'm thankful there's only 3 of us in this family... well 4 if you include #ChewbaccaTheChiweenie : ) and yes his birthday gets celebrated as well! We've even thrown him a birthday party! I told you.... we're crazy when it comes to birthday celebrations!!!
Okay.. back to the surprise! We had gone to Monster Jam for the first time a few years ago in San Diego and Rudy absolutely LOVED it!!! Periodically since then, he not so subtly said he wanted to do it again. So I looked up the dates for it in SD, but unfortunately it was way too far away from his bday to count as a bday celebration. So I decided to see where they were going to be at on his actual birthday! I told him SURPRISE.... you're going to help me plan a trip to Tucson for your birthday! He of course is amazing and was touched that I even thought of going to MJ for his bday. What a sweet guy I have!
It's Rudy's bday weekend..... of course there was FOOD!
Since the arena was enclosed, it was VERY LOUD! But we came prepared with our ear protection!
Unfortunately it was about 9pm at this point, so Downtown was exactly kid friendly.... we had to shield Gabe's eyes from some "club promotors" G-stringed booties. Other than that sketchy moment, it was fine and the ice cream was delicious!
Then we got an Eegee (a fruit-icee that is a Tuscon specialty) and got in line early to be the first to feed the giraffes. Did you doubt my excitement!??! We waited the half hour...dodging crazy wasps, but it was worth the wait! We paid our 6 dollars ($2each),
got our carrots and fed the beasts!
( The giraffe's not my husband's : )
it made my frugal Franny side very happy : )
Man vs food
While we waited to be seated, Gabe and I went on the hunt for a geocache that was only a few hundred feet away! SCORE! Gabe was actually the one who found “A lovely treat” (GC5T6GG)! I knew what were looking for, but he had the keen eye and made the find! Geocaching is always something I enjoy doing on vacation…espeicallly if we are in a different state because I get a (nerdy) geocaching souvenir on the app! And because this was “leap day weekend” I actually got 2!!! #nerdalert Yeah yeah yeah! Whatever! : )
But wait... We can't leave without a FASHION PHOTO SHOOT : )
I fell in love with this "Miss Pacific Kimono" from City Chic
